One of my good friends writes perhaps the most well known blog out there for Dodger fans. Despite the fact that he's from New Jersey, went to college in Boston and lives in NYC, his well laid out and comedic ramblings draw a following of nearly two thousands people a day. His writing, frankly, inspired me to churn out a blog this winter and has subsequently led me here. More accurately, though, its Carlton Fisk who led me (and him) here.

You see, my friend, commonly known as Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness, has named his blog after a laughable detail in the Simpson's episode "Homer at the Bat". Were I to copycat, I might have gone with a blog name like "Steve Sax's Plea Bargain". The irony of his blog name is that were it not for Carlton Fisk turning down a spot as the catcher in the episode (an entire 9 man team is fielded by Mr. Burns to replace his company softball squad), Mike Scioscia would never have had a tragic illness of "radiation poisoning". So, Carlton Fisk says your welcome to me, to MSTI and to all of you out there who will eventually stumble across my rambings.
It's not hard to come to the conclusion that blogging is simply blowing up now and finding an original angle is harder than Ron Jeremy after the fluff girl has finished, but I'm up to the challenge. Forget the generic Red Sox blog - there's enough of those here, here and here. Being the baseball fan that I am, I've decided to broaden the topic and tackle all things American League East, the beast of a division which always generates a high level of comptetion, controversy and is home to arguably the most publicized rivalry in professional sports.
My humble ambition is to chime in with insight on general baseball news that will affect my Red Sox and their divisional foes a few times each week. If you're appetite for baseball analysis is left unfulfilled by the traditional mediums of the sports writing world, then you've come to the right place. You will see the occasional guest appearance from minds far more atuned to the statistical realities of the sport but I assure you, I'll keep the intelligent banter to a minimum.
Now...time to drum up some relevant material.
